Today, I come to you with a heavy heart for so many who have suffered from a lack of love from their fathers. You see, I too felt unloved and unwanted. Sadly, my father never knew his father who was a Danish immigrant and lived with my grandmother for eight or nine years. Then, he deserted her and their two young children to return to Denmark and died of tuberculosis.
My father, having no paternal guidance, became a tough guy raised on the streets of New York City. It was only natural when he became a father to a delicate little girl, he was determined to treat me like a boy to toughen me up for life. I never heard the words, “I love you.” Nothing. All I knew was verbal and physical abuse.
It is not surprising this kind of childhood set the stage for a miserable young adult life, rightfully not trusting men, because it seems my ‘picker’ was broken! My father was broken and the men I was attracted to were also broken which broke me even more.
Perhaps you didn’t have a father or a mother to care for and nurture you. Or perhaps you were a latchkey kid, never receiving the love all children crave. Are you one of these people? Did you know your father‘s love? Did your father ever tell you he loved you?
You see the way we were raised is the way we perceive ourselves indefinitely you see. Unworthy? Not good enough? Plus, the way we see our earthly fathers is the way we normally see our Heavenly Father, which is tragic. I’m here to tell you knowing God’s great love for us can change the way we see ourselves and change the kind of life we can have. It’s because we have been adopted. How? By faith in His Son, Jesus Christ!
Let me prove it to you. “And I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” – 2 Corinthians 6:18
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” – John 1:12
“He predestined us for adoption to son ship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.” – Ephesians 1:5
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” – 1 John 3:1
Isaiah 43:1, where God reassures His people, saying, “I have called you by your name; you are mine.”
Do you actually see God considers you his child when you except Jesus Christ? You may want to know more about God and his love for his children. What is God the Father like?
God loves you! “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.’” – Jeremiah 31:3
He has great plans for you! He believes in you! He supports you in what you do. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
He is generous. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
He is protective and helps you in times of trouble. But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.” – Psalms 10:14
He is your provider. Luke 12:29-32 KJV 29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
He is your teacher, your counselor. “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” – Psalm 32:8
He gives wisdom. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5
He takes your fears because He cares and will protect you. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7
He gives you peace. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
He protects you. Psalm 91:11-12 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall [a]bear you up, Lest you [b]dash your foot against a stone.
He disciplines you. “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.” – Revelation 3:19
He is faithful. “The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:24
After all, He did say, “I will never leave you nor forsake you!” Hebrews 13:5
What was the greatest test of his love? How did he prove his love? He sacrificed his only Son, Jesus Christ to take the punishment for our sins! John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I hope you will meditate on these scriptures and let God tell you how He cares for you. We are so blessed! We can have our Father’s love!
If you need assurance of your Father in heaven’s love for you, please pray with me: “Father in heaven, thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to take the punishment for my sins. Father God, please forgive me for my sins. Jesus, be my Lord and Savior! Thank you Father. Amen”
Now go share with someone you know what you’ve just done. Today is the first day of the best part of your life! All of heaven rejoices! God is your Father!!

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Pray this prayer:
Father God, I confess I’m a sinner and need to be saved from the penalties of my sins. Please forgive me, Jesus, and be my Savior. Give me a new beginning. Come live in my heart, fill me with your Spirit, lead and guide me all the days of my life. Thank you, Yeshua, for saving me!
