Hey Sexy!

By Irene Webster

Every woman or girl in their lifetime may experience hearing wolf whistles and/or voices calling out, “hey, baby” as they walk on by. As Natalie Wood said, “smile and keep on moving!” ~ PJ Stratton

Sexual purity is not laughable, or a game. It’s God’s heart. How you dress, how you walk, how you apply your make up, how you talk, how you treat people reflects God.

I speak from experience. As a young beautiful woman I was one of three girls chosen out of 150 of the most beautiful women on my college campus to be a runway model for Neiman Marcus and later I became one of the top 10 models for Kim Dawson Modeling Agency.

In fact while I was in college I had so many dates I used to forget and have two guys arrive at the same time! Men chased me in grocery stores, and pursued me everywhere I went. So I can honestly say I have experienced unwanted sexual advances and even traumatic assaults numerous times.

Why? Was I supposed to wear a Burka? Was I supposed to wear skirts past my knees? Was I supposed to never apply makeup, or cut my hair in a nice style? Was I supposed to wear long sleeves? Was I supposed to hide my beauty? Was it my entire fault???? No! No, I was doing what every young woman did. My skirts were short, my hair was long and free, very little makeup, but somehow my presence attracted men of all ages, putting me in very precarious situations. I now know this was a spirit of flesh and lust attracting the wrong people.

Let me say, all this happened before I knew Christ, but as soon as I found Jesus and asked Him to be my Lord and my Savior, without trying I  naturally subdued my attire. My language changed and I made a point to never be alone in a room with a man other than my husband. I became proactive in avoiding the very  appearance of evil because I wanted to please God and not tempt others.

After I married and was blessed with a beautiful daughter both my husband and I had deep convictions concerning sexual purity, so we taught our daughter what God’s word says regarding sexual abstinence. At the age of 13 we presented her with a ring to remind her she is bound to Christ until marriage. This was not a game nor were we taking God’s Word lightly. She still honors this deep bond to Christ.

One more thing: I’m not saying as Christians we cannot have fun dressing in a beautiful way and looking lovely. Not at all!! I love beautiful clothes and looking my best!

If you want to please God, let the Holy Spirit guide you in your attire selections, your make up, and ask God to help you change outside and inside to reflect Him.

If you truly love God do not try to please men in your appearance, instead please God with a sense of excellence. Then, your love for God will show in your behavior, your attire, your language and your stance. In turn, you will reflect a beautiful God and your appearance will shine.

You will even look younger than your years because of the Holy Spirit, living within you. It’s amazing and love of God will shine out of you drawing all men to you but for good reasons. Try it and you’ll see!

What God says in his word…

1 Timothy 2:9-10 AMP
Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves modestly and appropriately and discreetly in proper clothing, not with [elaborately] braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but instead adorned by good deeds [helping others], as is proper for women who profess to worship God.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 AMP
For this is the will of God, that you be sanctified [separated and set apart from sin]:  you abstain and back away from sexual immorality;  each of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor [being available for God’s purpose and separated from things profane], not [to be used] in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God and are ignorant of His will;

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 AMP
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.
