Choosing Life!

By Janice Plowden

Psalm 139:13-18 13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being imperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. 17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

Jessica is pregnant. She grew up in a strong Christian home. She believed abortion was wrong, it was killing her child. At 30, she never believed she would be in this position. Pregnant by a man she was just “having fun with”. She had not been careful with her birth control. And now she is pregnant with a man she knows she does not want to marry.

Devastated with her bad choices, she believes she has messed her life up. She always wanted to have children, but the right way. She wanted to find the man of her dreams, have a beautiful wedding and then a year or two later, have her sweet baby. Jessica knew her parents would be ashamed of her behavior; how could she face them? Jessica talked with her sister. Her sister told her she could still have her dream, she just needed to abort the baby. Both knew abortion was killing her child, but this baby was keeping Jessica from living her best life now

Job 31:15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?

Jessica came to our clinic to get an abortion. She was shocked to find out we did not do the procedure. She just wanted to do this as quickly as possible, and forget her mistake. I ask her if she had talked to anyone who had been through an abortion. She confessed she didn’t even know of anyone who had aborted their baby. I cautioned her to slow down, think this through, before she does something she can’t change…ever!

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Psalm 127:3 Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

I asked her if I could share the stories of some other women abortion stories. She reluctantly agreed. I shared the guilt, shame, remorse, the inability to have more children, etc. that others had shared with me.  Jessica decided she would deal with that later, right now she needed to abort as quickly as possible, while the baby was small and would not feel the abortion, which I told her was another lie – the baby would feel it. She reasoned many women have abortions and they are fine.

As far as I know Jessica was not a success story. I see many women change their mind, and often accept Christ in the process. But Jessica thought abortion was the road to her getting her American dream. She did not yet realize the remorse and shame she was going to feel. She did not yet know that every day on the baby’s birthday, she would regret having killed her child. The sleepless nights, the tears, the pulling away from other people she was about to experience. She said God would forgive her. He will. But she did not know how hard it would be to forgive herself.

Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

Pray for all the Jessica’s out there who think they can kill their child and there are no consequences. Pray our churches start teaching that you reap what you sow. There are consequences to sin. And that abortion is murder, of their own child. Pray women begin choosing to not give into the worldly pressure to have sex outside of God’s guidelines. Pray we will all begin to live as God has ask us to live and not go our own way. Our own way always costs us. His ways lead to life. Pray this country begins choosing life!

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Resources for Pregnant Mothers:

The Holy Bible says life begins when God forms us in the womb and He knew the plans He has for us! The Bible speaks of spiritual life which begins with a relationship with Jesus Christ and rewards us with eternal life after death.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God sent His Son Jesus that we may have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. God wishes us to experience an excellent and abundant life. We, who are living in the power of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, have the ability to experience heaven on earth! Praise Him!

Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

Luke 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

On every human beings journey from the womb to the tomb numerous choices will be presented to choose from. Great wisdom will be required along with spiritual insight to see ahead to see how your journey might unfold. Front and center in a split second a young girl must choose which pathway to take as she is pressured by a male with sexual urges or finds herself in a crowd of people where a pedophile lurks about with a group of sex and human traffickers to kidnap her.

This strange world we are living in is not the kind many of us Baby Boomers were raised in during the 1950’s through 1970’s. Spiritual and physical purity was erased through a generational dumbing down in an electronic brainwashing through the media actors via news, radio, television, music and movies. Is it any wonder to read the great numbers of abortions since 1973 and the unwanted illegitimate children abused?

Let us consider other pathways for women of all ages to consider when their pregnancy test reveals a positive.
